Description

The confusion over Annual Wellness Visits (AWVs) and Initial Preventive Physical Exams (IPPEs) within the medical industry is mostly due to a combination of lapsed or inaccurate medical records and confusion over Medicare’s policies. That’s why, they are not only very confusing for patients and providers, but they are heavily scrutinized by Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs).

Jackie Crawford, BS, CPC, CDEO, CEMC has been working as a coding specialist for McLeod Physician Associates/Revenue Cycle Management in Florence SC for 13+ years.  She has a BS in psychology from the College of Charleston, graduated 2000.  She has almost 20 years’ experience in coding, auditing, billing, and educating providers and staff on billing/coding/documentation issues.

She has multiple specialty experience with General Surgery, Vascular, Plastics, Gastroenterology, Urology, Orthopaedics (spine, trauma, pain management), Primary Care, Pulmonology/Critical Care, and extensive E/M documentation experience with the 2021 updates that were released 01/01/21. 

She has presented over one hundred presentations to providers and staff about different specialty specific coding/billing topics. She also maintains multiple monthly/quarterly meetings with providers keeping the lines of communication open to provide education on documentation and billing improvements.  With her vast array of specialty knowledge, she is able to communicate and educate in a manner that providers/staff find relatable and accurate.
